MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine men's U23 team gave the country its first Asian Games win in 68 years or since 1958 with a 2-1 victory over Kuwait at the Nagoya City Minato Soccer Field in Japan on Tuesday afternoon.
Andres Aldeguer scored on a penalty kick in the first minute of the added time to deliver the clincher for the Philippines, which exited the tournament with 3 points on a 1-2 record.
Losses to Uzbekistan (5-1) and Vietnam (2-0) denied the Philippines a quarterfinal berth.
