PH songs, artists for Eurovision Asia revealed

The songs for the Philippines’ national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest Asia have been revealed on Monday by broadcaster ABS-CBN.

Star Music has announced the composers and performers behind the 10 songs featured in the Philippine Selection Night. The lineup includes: “Between Bituin,” performed by DNA, composed by Jungee Marcelo; “Broken Beyond Repair,” performed by Saga, composed by Angelo Gonzales; “Cheri(e),” performed by Elha Nympha, Esang de Torres, Lance Reblando and Nar Cabico, composed by Nar Cabico; “Di Yan (Red Flag),” performed by Jason Dy and Sassa Dagdag, composed by Jason Marvin Hernandez; “Good for You,” performed by Ryssi Avila, composed by Hazel Faith; “Make it Exist,” performed by AJAA, composed by Angelo Calvin Mapadama, performed by JMielle, composed by Jungee Marcelo and Jeremy Glinoga; “Reason to Live,” performed by Khimo, composed by Stephen Tan; “Round ’n’ Round,” performed by VVink and Wrive Russu, composed by Julius James de Belen and John Michael Conchada; “Sobra-Sobra,” performed by Carmelle Collado, composed by Nica del Rosario and Mat Olavides.

The full songs for the country’s national selection will be revealed on Aug. 17, in line with the country’s selection night on Aug. 30.

Several composers expressed their excitement about their songs being used in the upcoming competition.

“I’m officially part of the Top 10 finalists competing to represent the Philippines in Eurovision Asia!” Mat Olavides, composer of Sobra-Sobra wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Angelo Gonzales, composer of Broken Beyond Repair said it felt surreal, as he has been a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest for years.

“This feels surreal that this all is happening, I’ve waited long enough to let this secret loose, especially to my fellow Eurofan friends... Can’t wait to let you guys in on this adventure with me!” he wrote.

Ten countries, including the Philippines, are expected to take part in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia, which will be held in Bangkok, Thailand on Nov. 14.
