MANILA, Philippines — The number of unemployed Filipinos dipped in March as labor market conditions slightly improved, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported on Wednesday.

Data showed that unemployment dropped to 5.0 percent from February’s 5.1 percent. It is, however, higher than the 3.9 percent recorded a year earlier.

Underemployment, meanwhile, increased to 12.3 percent from 11.8 percent in February but lower than the 13.4 percent in March 2025.

Employment improved to 95.0 percent, slightly higher than the 94.9 percent a month earlier but lower than a year earlier’s 96.1 percent.

Labor force participation in March was recorded at 63.3 percent, lower than the 63.8 percent in January but higher than March 2025’s 62.9 percent.
