Kota Kinabalu: A pharmacist was fined RM5,000 or four months’ jail for failing to personally supervise the retail sale of poisons at a pharmacy in Kampung Air here.
Michelle Chong pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus to the offence under Section 16(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.
The court heard that Chong, as a licensed pharmacist, did not ensure that the sale of poisons was carried out under her supervision at Pharmex Sdn Bhd on 14 February this year.
At the same time, pharmacy worker Chong Khyun Mui was fined RM3,000 or two months’ jail for selling a strip of Hovasc 10mg containing Amlodipine, a Group B poison, to a man without a doctor’s prescription.
Prosecuting officer Fashihatul Affandi from the Pharmacy Department handled the case.
