Phil Mickelson has withdrawn from a third consecutive LIV Golf event, casting doubt over his competitive build-up to the Masters.

The six-time major champion will not feature at the tournament in Hong Kong, the start of a three-week LIV stretch.

He had already missed events in Riyadh and Adelaide, citing a “family health matter.”

With Augusta National now just five weeks away, questions naturally arise over his preparation. Mickelson has not competed in a tournament since last year.

Phil Mickelson pulls out of LIV Golf Hong Kong ahead of the Masters

Mickelson’s latest absence means he will miss the opening leg of a LIV triple-header. Events in Singapore and South Africa will follow over the next two weeks.

The condensed schedule would have offered valuable competitive reps ahead of the Masters. Instead, Mickelson remains sidelined, having withdrawn from three straight tournaments.

No further detail has been provided beyond his earlier explanation of a family health matter.

The 55-year-old has a long history of peaking for major championships, particularly at Augusta National, where he is a three-time winner.

However, competitive rhythm is often key in the weeks leading up to the season’s first major. With no recent tournament action, his preparation remains uncertain.

HyFlyers GC confirm Wade Ormsby as replacement

HyFlyers GC confirmed Mickelson’s absence and named his replacement for Hong Kong.

“We are excited to have Wade join the team again in Hong Kong as he steps in for Phil,” a statement read.

“As a two-time winner of The Hong Kong Open, Wade brings a great deal of familiarity to Hong Kong Golf Club.”

For Mickelson, the focus will likely remain on returning to competition before Augusta. With the Masters approaching quickly, time on the course is becoming increasingly valuable.
