PUTRAJAYA, Sept 17 — The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) today said that a letter dated July 17, 2026, claiming that Cabinet approval had been given for a proposed Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project to widen the North-South Expressway (PLUS) is fake.

In a statement today, PMO stressed that the Prime Minister had never issued or signed the letter and denied any connection with the document or the purported approval.

“PMO has lodged a police report over the forgery of the document and the misuse of the Prime Minister’s name and PMO’s official identity.

“Appropriate legal action will be taken against any party found to be involved,” the statement read.

PMO therefore advised the public not to be deceived by, circulate, or share the fake document. — Bernama
