Since Anwar stepped into office three months ago, hardly a day goes by without the PMX being in the news talking just about anything and everything. This caused PAS Ameerah Malaysia leader to call him a talkative common hill myna or burung tiung which has a reputation of being good at talking.

On the other hand, Tun Mahathir observed that Anwar seems to "make statements daily on supposedly wanting to do many things."

Tun Mahathir, a former PM himself, is not impressed by the first 100 days of PMX's administration, saying that nothing significant has been implemented for the benefit of the rakyat.

You cannot compare Anwar to Tun Mahathir who stepped into office and swiftly within the first 100 days implemented changes without much fanfare.

You will recall that the PH government under Tun M abolished the controversial goods and services tax (GST), and stabilised the price of petrol within 100 days of coming into office, as promised. This contrasts sharply with Anwar's promises of lowering the price of petrol one day after he came into office. The price of RON95 that he said would be lowered still remains unchanged even after 100 days.

Anyway, back to 4 March 2023 when Tun Mahathir said at a press conference that Anwar Ibrahim only knows how to speak and gain popular support. "He (Anwar) makes statements daily on supposedly wanting to do many things, but nothing has changed because he only knows how to speak."

That probably prompted someone like Ameera's Fans Club deputy exco member Nik Nor Nadhirah Nik Ismail to liken Anwar to a burung tiung.

She said Anwar has used his verbal skills to embark on a "psywar" (psychology warfare) to discredit Perikatan Nasional (PN). She gave six reasons to show that Anwar is "not putting his money where his mouth is".

These include Anwar's implication that PN's election funds came from gambling companies, his allegation of violations in the awarding of contracts amounting to RM600 billion without tender during the PN era, his appointment of an individual with 47 criminal charges of corruption as Deputy Prime Minister, and his appointment of his own daughter as a senior economic/financial advisor to the Finance Minister.

The Ameera leader claimed that these examples were good enough lessons "for us not to be obsessed with this 10th Prime Minister (PMX)," and that what Anwar says from now on will be doubted by Malaysians, their party supporters, political analysts, and foreign investors until they are proven true.

The above two opinions are mere examples of many other jibes thrown at Anwar; the talkative burung tiung who is good at talking without 'putting the money where his mouth is', or Tun Mahathir who implies that PMX is known colloquially as just another NATO - 'no action talk only' guy.
