KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has yet to finalise seat allocation with Barisan Nasional (BN) for the Melaka state election scheduled for Nov 14.
PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said no agreement had been reached on the number of seats each coalition would contest.
He said both sides still had time to work out the details of their cooperation and seat allocation ahead of the polls.
“It has not been finalised yet. There are still many days left – how many? Another 10 days,” he said after a press conference in the lobby of the Kuala Lumpur High Court Complex on Thursday.
He was responding to reports that BN would contest 21 seats, while PN would contest seven.
Sinar previously reported that BN had confirmed its cooperation with PAS for the Melaka polls scheduled for Nov 14.
BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said negotiations on seat allocation between the two sides had been finalised.
He said BN would contest 21 state seats, while PAS and its coalition partners would contest the remaining seven.
Commenting further, Takiyuddin said cooperation between the two coalitions had yet to be finalised in terms of its form and details.
“Cooperation is still cooperation, but the form and details of that cooperation have yet to be finalised,” he said.
