MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Friday ordered the filing of cases against the six Manila police officers involved in a robbery hold-up incident in Makati City.
“I will personally monitor the progress of this case to make sure that these policemen will not only be dismissed from the service but also go straight to jail. Criminal-minded policemen do not deserve to wear the uniform and use our badge,” Nartatez said.
Assuring the public that such lawlessness will not be tolerated, Nartatez ordered the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) to place the involved officers under restrictive custody and preventive suspension while investigation was ongoing.
The PNP’s Internal Affairs Service has initiated the administrative cases that could lead to the dismissal of the involved officers from the MPD while the Makati Police wee preparing criminal charges.
The MPD is now conducting a parallel investigation into the incident and has secured all pertinent documents, including the Station Drug Enforcement Unit Coordination Form for the MPD area of responsibility dated Jan. 28, 2026, Notice to Explain issued to the immediate supervisor and the arrested personnel, and the Relieved Order for Station Commander and all members of the SDEU personnel of Police Station 9.
"We assure the public that erring police officers will not be tolerated. Appropriate charges will be filed, and this matter will be elevated to the proper authorities,” PBgen Arnold E. Abad, MPD director said.
The PNP chief said the internal cleansing program would continue to strengthen the resolve to discipline the ranks and protect public trust.
“The fact that it is also PNP personnel who arrested these erring policemen says a lot in terms of zero-tolerance on wrongdoings in the organization. I commend the Makati City Police for doing their job well,” Nartatez said.
