PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Friday ordered the immediate filing of charges against six Manila Police District (MPD) officers arrested for robbery in Makati City.
“I will personally monitor the progress of this case to make sure that these policemen will not only be dismissed from the service but also go straight to jail,” Nartatez said. “Criminal-minded policemen do not deserve to wear the uniform and use our badge.”
Nartatez said he has ordered the National Capital Region Police Office to place the six suspects under restrictive custody and preventive suspension while the investigation continues. Administrative cases initiated by the PNP Internal Affairs Service could lead to the officers’ dismissal.
In a parallel investigation, the MPD said it has secured all documents pertinent to the case. These include the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) coordination form dated Jan. 28, 2026, a notice to explain issued to the immediate supervisor and the arrested personnel, and the relief order for the station commander and all members of the Police Station 9 SDEU.
“We assure the public that erring police officers will not be tolerated,” MPD director Gen. Arnold Abad said. “Appropriate charges will be filed, and this matter will be elevated to the proper authorities.”
Nartatez vowed to continue the internal cleansing of the police force to protect public trust.
“The fact that it is also PNP personnel who arrested these erring policemen says a lot in terms of zero-tolerance on wrongdoings in the organization,” Nartatez said. “I commend the Makati City Police for doing their job well.”
