MANILA, Philippines — Defense counsel Michael Wesley Poa on Monday said he has no reservations about testifying as a prosecution witness in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.
“I welcome the opportunity to testify on the extent of my participation in the subject matter, and perhaps even shed some light on what really transpired during those CGGPA hearings conducted by the House of Representatives,” Poa said.
He issued the statement after Deputy Speaker Francisco Paolo Ortega V described him as a “central figure” in the impeachment trial and said his testimony could clarify questions left unresolved during the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability’s 2024 inquiry.
