POCO Malaysia has just launched its latest F9 Ultra and F9 Pro flagship smartphones, alongside the mid-range POCO X8. Let’s take a closer look.
POCO F9 Series
For starters, the POCO F9 Series combines Qualcomm’s latest flagship platforms with a dedicated VisionBoost D8 chipset, enabling Smart Frame Rate of up to 185FPS alongside AI Super Resolution. Notably, the F9 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the F9 Pro uses another flagship Qualcomm platform.
Both models also feature the WildBoost Engine, up to 4,800Hz instant touch sampling, 480Hz 10-point touch sampling, 200Hz gyroscope sampling, and POCO’s 3D IceLoop cooling system for sustained gaming performance.
Both smartphones feature 185Hz POCO HyperRGB AMOLED displays, with the F9 Ultra packing a 6.9-inch panel and the F9 Pro a 6.59-inch display. HyperRGB uses a full RGB subpixel structure for sharper visuals while reducing power consumption, while the new M11 luminescent material enables up to 4,500 nits peak brightness and up to 10,000 nits for HDR content.
Design-wise, the F9 Ultra also features a rear dynamic light system, while the F9 Pro offers a full-panel luminous design on its Aurora Green variant. Battery capacity reaches 8,050mAh on the F9 Ultra and 6,330mAh on the F9 Pro, with both supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless HyperCharge as well as reverse charging.
For audio, the F9 Ultra uses dual 1115D stereo speakers with a dedicated 1620 subwoofer for 2.1-channel audio, while the F9 Pro features dual 1115F stereo speakers with a sealed cavity design. Plus, both models offer Dynamic and Balanced sound profiles, with tuning supported by Sound by Bose.
In terms of photography, the series introduces POCO’s first 200MP OIS camera system, paired with a 32MP front camera. The F9 Ultra adds a 5x periscope telephoto camera with 10x lossless and 20x AI Ultra Zoom, while the F9 Pro features a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto camera capable of focusing as close as 10cm.
POCO X8
The POCO X8 packs an 8,340mAh silicon-carbon battery with 13% silicon content, delivering over two days of battery life on a single charge. It supports 67W HyperCharge for faster top-ups and 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing it to power other devices when needed.
It is equipped with a 6.83-inch 1.5K ultra-bright display with up to 3,500 nits peak brightness, housed in a minimalist design with a sandblasted middle frame for a more comfortable grip. The smartphone also boasts IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K dust/water resistance ratings, along with Underwater Mode for capturing photos and videos underwater, while Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the display from scratches and drops of up to 3 metres.
Powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform built on a 4nm process and running Xiaomi HyperOS 3, the X8 also features Xiaomi HyperIsland and built-in Google Gemini for added smart functionality.
For photography, its 50MP main camera with OIS and EIS is paired with a 16MP front camera, while Dual Video allows users to record footage from the front and rear cameras simultaneously.

The new POCO F9 Series is now available in Malaysia, while the POCO X8 will launch on 9 September, with the promo prices as follows:
