Not too long after launching the flagship Xiaomi 17 series, Xiaomi Malaysia is launching new smartphones under its budget-friendly Poco brand.

The Poco X8 Pro series, which is expected to consist of the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, is set to launch next week, just shortly after the Oppo Find N6 event.

These are Xiaomi Malaysia’s new mid-range smartphones which are set to succeed the current Poco X7 Pro lineup. As usual, we can expect pre-orders to be made available shortly after the event with special early bird pricing.

On the surface, the Poco X8 Pro and Poco X8 Pro Max are essentially rebadged versions of the Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Turbo 5 Max, which are sold in China.

Based on the Chinese specs, the Turbo 5 feature a 6.59″ Full HD+ display and a 7,560mAh battery. Meanwhile, the Turbo 5 Max gets a larger 6.83″ Full HD+ display and a huge 9,000mAh battery.

The rest of the specs between the two Redmi Turbo 5 models are quite similar. Both come with a dual-camera setup featuring a 50MP main camera with OIS and a secondary 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter, along with a 20MP selfie camera.

The two devices also feature stereo speakers, IP68/IP69K-rated dust and water resistance, 100W fast wired charging and 27W reverse wired charging.

Of course, you can expect some hardware changes for the global market including a slightly smaller battery.

The full details will be revealed next week.
