The Tarn Taran police have achieved major success in a special operation against gangsters, extortion gangs and criminals involved in firing and target killing incidents. The district police have traced a total of 13 cases related to extortion, firing and target killings, arrested several key accused and seized weapons, cartridges and other crucial evidence.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surendra Lamba said that following the directives of Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, an intensive campaign against gangsters and criminal elements is being carried out across the district. As part of the operation, the police have solved several cases related to murder, extortion, target killings, illegal arms smuggling and drug trafficking.

In one target killing case, the police solved the murder by arresting three accused. In other cases, several associates of the Prabh Dasuwal gang were also apprehended. During the investigation, it was revealed that the gang was involved in issuing extortion threats, opening fire on traders and conspiring to carry out target killings in different areas.

The police have also made arrests in several other cases and recovered illegal pistols, live cartridges, and other weapons. Investigations further revealed that some of the accused carried out extortion and firing incidents on the instructions of gangsters operating from abroad.

In a separate case, the police arrested a foreign woman and recovered more than 3 kg of heroin from her possession. The investigation also exposed a network involved in ordering weapons and ammunition through drones.

SSP Lamba said these arrests have helped prevent several potential target killings and firing incidents. He added that the campaign against gangsters and criminal gangs will continue to ensure law and order and maintain peace in the district.
