Butterworth police secure extended remand for three suspects, including a foreign national, in the murder of a female van driver found with neck wounds.
BUTTERWORTH: Police have secured an extended remand order for three men, including a Myanmar national, to assist in the murder investigation of a woman in Sungai Dua.
The remand for the suspects, aged between 38 and 45, was due to end today after their arrest hours following the discovery of the victim on February 4.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the Myanmar national’s remand was extended for two days until February 13.
The remand for the two local men was extended for a further five days until February 16.
“The extension is to allow police to complete the investigation paper before submitting it to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further action,” he said when contacted.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The 41-year-old victim, a school van driver, was found lying on a bed in her first-floor unit at Sri Murni Flat with slash wounds to her neck.
