Five-year-old Asiah Ahmad Syahir, who was travelling with her father in a Perodua Bezza, died from severe head injuries following a six-vehicle accident along Jalan Kuching. She was pronounced dead at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).

KUALA LUMPUR – Police are finalising their investigation into a six-vehicle accident along Jalan Kuching last Saturday that claimed the life of a five-year-old girl.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the 24-year-old driver of a BYD Seal believed to have been involved in the accident was still receiving treatment at a private hospital.

“Investigating officers are completing the investigation while monitoring the driver's condition.

“The investigation papers will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) for further instructions,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at about 3.44pm, when the BYD Seal is believed to have rear-ended a Perodua Bezza travelling in slow-moving traffic from the city centre towards Segambut.

The collision also involved a motorcycle, before the Perodua Bezza spun into the right lane and crashed into three other vehicles: a Nissan Almera, a Toyota Alphard and a Perodua Myvi.

The accident left five-year-old Asiah Ahmad Syahir, who was travelling in the Perodua Bezza with her father, with severe head injuries.

She was later pronounced dead at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).

The 30-year-old Perodua Bezza driver sustained cuts to his right hand, while the 33-year-old Yamaha 135LC motorcyclist suffered head injuries.

Both injured victims received treatment at HKL.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Nissan Almera driver, 37-year-old Toyota Alphard driver and 30-year-old Perodua Myvi driver were reported to be uninjured.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
