Police are hunting suspects after an armed gang attempted to rob a gold shop in Klang, smashing display cases before fleeing on motorcycles

SHAH ALAM: Police are hunting for suspects believed to be involved in an attempted robbery of a gold shop at Jalan Tengku Kelana, Klang, near here, this morning, which has gone viral on social media. 

Klang Selatan district deputy police chief Supt Kamalariffin Aman Shah confirmed the incident.

He said the incident, which occurred at about 10.30 am, is also believed to have caused injuries to an individual and involved the use of firearms. 

“Klang Selatan district police headquarters (IPD) Criminal Investigation Division has opened an investigation paper under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt during an attempted gang robbery. 

“The case is also being investigated under Section 4 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971 for displaying firearms while attempting to commit robbery,” he said in a statement today. 

Kamalarifin urged members of the public with information to contact investigating officer Insp Mohamad Sulaimi Alawi @ Shaari at 014-5719405 or the Klang Selatan IPD Operations Room at 03-33762222, or the nearby police station. 

Earlier, a video circulating on social media showed several individuals armed with hammers entering a gold shop and smashing its display glass, believed to be in an attempt to commit robbery, but they failed and fled on motorcycles.
