A recent video has been making the rounds online showing two individuals, believed to be children, sticking their upper bodies out of the sunroof of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

In the video, the two children could be seen with half of their bodies sticking out of the sunroof as the Toyota Alphard was moving along the road, raising concerns among netizens over their safety.

Police tracking down MPV owner following viral video

The incident, which was captured on video by a fellow road user, is believed to have occurred along the North-South Expressway, from the Meru exit towards Jalan Jelapang-Simpang Pulai.

Following the incident, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has launched an investigation into the viral footage.

According to Ipoh District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah, no police report has been lodged over the incident so far, as reported by Malaysia Gazette.

However, he said police are currently working to identify and track down the owner of the vehicle.

“We will identify the individuals involved. If they are indeed children, we will investigate the matter under the Child Act 2001,” he was quoted as saying by local media.
