
IPOH – Police are investigating an incident involving two children sitting on top of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) while it was moving on a public road, which has gone viral on social media since yesterday.
Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said no report had been received regarding the incident so far.
However, he said police were tracking down the owner of the vehicle.
“We will identify them. If they are indeed children, we will investigate the matter under the Child Act 2001,” he said when contacted here.
Earlier, a video went viral showing two girls sitting on top of a luxury Toyota Alphard MPV.
The children were believed to have climbed out through the sunroof while the vehicle was moving on the road.
The incident, which was recorded by a road user, was believed to have taken place from the Meru exit towards Jalan Jelapang-Simpang Pulai, alongside the North-South Expressway.
The footage drew criticism from netizens, who said the incident could have endangered the children. – Awani
