Police have identified several promising leads in their efforts to track down the suspects involved in the assault on Pandan MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli's son at a shopping mall in Putrajaya on Wednesday.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the leads were uncovered following the examination of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from around the shopping complex.
"There are leads from the CCTV recordings, although not conclusive at this stage," he told Bernama today.
He added that 14 individuals had so far been questioned to assist in the investigation. Shazeli also confirmed that police were investigating a threatening message received by Rafizi's wife in connection with the incident. It was the first time she had received such a message via WhatsApp.
The report on the threat was lodged by Rafizi's wife, with investigations being carried out alongside other agencies, including the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
On Wednesday, police confirmed that Rafizi's son had been assaulted at about 2pm in the pick-up and drop-off zone of the shopping mall.
Rafizi alleged that the attack was carried out by two men dressed in black and wearing helmets, who arrived on a motorcycle. One of them is said to have dragged his son before pricking him with a syringe. – August 16, 2025
