Kota Kinabalu: Locals buying homes under the Bumiputera (Bumi) quota in Sabah may not have to wait for the stipulated five-year period to end before selling once a proposal to do away with the restriction is tabled and passed in the next available State Legislative Assembly sitting.

Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) President Datuk Chua Soon Ping said Shareda proposed a change in the policy to the State Government so that Bumis would not miss the opportunity to sell to potential buyers.

“They will not have to hold their houses for five years to sell after enjoying the additional discount of five per cent.
