KUALA LUMPUR – Several parts of the Klang Valley, including Kepong, Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, were hit by a major power outage this evening, disrupting activities in homes, offices and shopping centres.

In a statement on Facebook, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) confirmed that a power disruption had occurred in several areas around Kepong and Kuala Lumpur.

“Our technical teams are on site carrying out repair works to restore electricity supply. We appreciate your patience and regret any inconvenience caused,” the utility company said.

TNB also reminded the public to handle electrical appliances carefully during the outage, as power could be restored at any time.

“Your safety is our priority. Please be cautious when using electrical equipment during a power disruption,” it said.

Social media users reported blackouts across multiple locations, including Section 8 in Petaling Jaya, Universiti Malaya, Bukit Damansara, and Mont Kiara.

Some netizens also shared photos and videos of darkened shopping malls and residences, with escalators and lifts temporarily out of service.

Among the affected commercial spots were Mid Valley City Mall and The Exchange TRX, where visitors were seen navigating dimly lit areas during the sudden outage.

As of press time, TNB had yet to confirm the cause of the disruption but said efforts were underway to fully restore power in the affected areas. — Oct 15, 2025
