Kota Kinabalu: Motorists are urged to exercise caution and prioritise safety while driving as the Hari Raya holidays approach.

City Police Chief, ACP Kasim Muda, emphasised the importance of staying alert on the road, given the current conditions where fatigue can easily set in.

“During this fasting period, our physical condition may not be at its best, making us prone to drowsiness. So it is essential to get enough rest and sleep before starting a trip,” he said.

He also said it is important to check vehicle conditions before embarking on long journeys.

Kasim said this during Bubur Lambuk Ramadhan 2025 Programme, organised by Amanita & Police Family Association (Perkep) Kota Kinabalu, together with Adabi held at IPD Kota Kinabalu on Monday.

Also present were Perkep IPD KK Chairperson Suziana Mohd Zain, IPD KK Deputy Chief cum IPD KK Amanita Chief Iyda Ismail, IPD KK Branch Heads, District Police Station Chiefs and agency partners’ representatives.

As part of the event, five large pots of bubur lambuk, amounting to 1,500 packs, were distributed to road users along Jalan Pahlawan.

Kasim said the programme served not only as a community initiative but also as a timely reminder for all road users to remain vigilant while driving.

Kasim confirmed that there had been no significant increase in crime rates so far.

“However, we will intensify operations to curb any potential rise in cases, especially during Hari Raya when many homes are left vacant.

“We will also enhance preparedness and road safety measures to ensure that all motorists comply with traffic laws and reach their destinations safely,” he said.
