Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan’, Srinagar Police on Wednesday demolished an allegedly illegal two-storey structure built on state land at Haka Bazar in Lal Bazar area of the city.

In a statement, police said the demolished property, spread over nearly nine marlas and valued at around Rs 1.5 crore, was linked to a wanted drug peddler identified as Arshid Ahmed Sheikh, who is allegedly involved in multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to police, the demolition drive was carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate Khanyar and officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.

“The action was executed strictly in accordance with law as part of sustained efforts to dismantle illegal infrastructure and financial networks created through the narcotics trade,” the statement said.

Police said the entire operation was conducted peacefully under strict supervision.

Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace and appealed to the public to share information related to drug peddling and other illegal activities.
