Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday attached an immovable property worth around Rs 1.2 crore in the Gasoo area of Hazratbal in Srinagar under the provisions of the NDPS Act as part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan’.
According to a police spokesperson, the attached property — comprising a double-storeyed residential house and a piece of land — belongs to Maqsood Hussain Khan, a resident of Hazratbal. The action was carried out by the Nigeen police station under Section 68(F)(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said the investigation revealed that the property had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking.
Under the attachment order, the owner has been barred from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property.
Police also appealed to citizens to cooperate in the fight against drug abuse by sharing information related to drug peddling to help build a drug-free society.
