The police on Friday bulldozed the property of a drug smuggler in Udhampur district of Jammu division.

Drug property worth lakhs belonging to the accused smuggler, identified as Tarlochan Dutt, was bulldozed at Samroli in the district.

“In a decisive action against narco-criminals, district police Udhampur, in coordination with the district administration, demolished an illegally constructed property worth lakhs belonging to notorious drug peddler Tarlochan Dutt, son of Hans Raj and a resident of Samroli, Chenani,” a statement by the police read.

It was alleged that Tarlochan Dutt is a habitual offender and has been found involved in an FIR under Section U/S 8/20 NDPS Act of Chenani police station. His continued involvement in drug trafficking activities had been under investigation.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that he had encroached upon state land and constructed commercial structures, including rooms worth lakhs along NH-44 at Samroli, Chenani.

“The illegal property, raised through proceeds of narco trade, was demolished as part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan’ to dismantle the financial and logistical infrastructure of drug peddlers in the district,” the statement read.

It stated that Udhampur police reiterates their firm commitment to act strictly against drug offenders and ensure a drug-free society.
