TAWAU: The proposed new bridge connecting Kampung Budaya Pasir Putih and Logpond Tanjung Batu Laut is currently in the design stage.

Kalabakan MP Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy said the new access road project would also be included in the 13th Malaysia Plan.

“We received this information through an official response from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development,” he told reporters during the Sentuhan Kasih programme and Iftar event at Al-Falah Mosque, Kampung Budaya Pasir Putih, on Friday.

The event was organised in collaboration with the Tanjung Batu Community Development Leader Unit and Komuniti Madani Pasir Putih, under the Tawau District Information Office.

Further commenting, Andi Suryady described the new bridge as a pressing necessity, crucial for ensuring the comfort and connectivity of local residents.

In a separate matter, the Tanjung Batu State assemblyman said an application for a village reserve status for Kampung Empang had been submitted.

“The land ownership status of this village is currently under consideration by the landowners, Sabah Softwoods Berhad – Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd.

“We hope the village will be gazetted as a village reserve, similar to other villages that have already obtained such status,” he said.

The Assistant Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship added that the gazettement of the village is essential to enable residents to receive government assistance and benefit from more structured development initiatives.
