
The Punjab School Education Board today announced the Class XII boards results and it’s an all-girls merit list this year. Three girls, with perfect score of 100 per cent bagged top positions, while the district merit list has all girls in top 10 positions. The total pass percentage this year is 91.46% and district-wise Amritsar emerged as the top-performing district for government schools with a 96% pass rate.
Girls continued their streak of outperforming boys, recording a 94.73% pass rate compared to 88.52% of boys. In Amritsar, Nitika Kapoor, a STEM student of Class XII from Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Maha Singh Gate, emerged as district topper with 98.6% score. She also ranks eight in the state merit list. Following her are Karmanpreet Kaur from Amber Public Senior Secondary School, Baba Bakala, with 98.4%, ranked second in district. Amandeep Kaur, a student of Guru Nanak Public Senior Secondary School and Karmanpreet Kaur from Amber Public Senior Secondary school share joint third spot in the district with 98.2%.
This year, the number of candidates had slightly increased to 2,65,417, with 2,42,755 students passing, bringing the pass percentage to 91.46%.
Nitika, a student of non-medical with biology, of Class XII Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Maha Singh Gate, scored 100 in physics, chemistry and English. She wants to pursue computer science engineering and has applied for admission at Thapar Institute, Patiala.
Karmanpreet Kaur, a student of medical stream from Amber Public Senior Secondary School, scored 98.4% to rank second in district and ninth in state merit list. Another Karmanpreet Kaur, a student of the same school, but from non-medical stream, who scored 98.2% to rank third in district and tenth in the state merit list. Both want to pursue civil services.
Her father Harbinder Singh is a small farmer from Mattewal villag and calls her ‘Guru’s mehar’.
The other Karmanpreet, whose father Jagroop Singh is also a farmer at Panwa village, wants to go into research or civil services with an aim to uplift the farming community of Punjab.
She scored a perfect 100 in English, physics and maths, with physics being her favourite subject. “I was also third in the state in the PSEB Class X boards,” she said.
Tarn Taran dist ranked 12th
Tarn Taran: The results of Class XII announced by the Punjab School Education Board today have been excellent for the district, which has been ranked 12th in Punjab, with a pass percentage of 91.22%.
According to the list released by the board, the first position in the district has gone to Garv Devgan, a student of Dashmesh Senior Secondary School, Valtoa. He secured 488 marks (97.6%) out of 500. Jashanpreet Kaur, a student of Government Secondary School, Gaggobua, has secured the second position by securing 488 marks. Mansimrat Kaur, a student of Government Senior Secondary School, Dubli, secured the third position by scoring 485 marks.
