Southampton have had an approach for highly-rated PSV winger Cody Gakpo rejected.
The attacker, who plays on the left and in central positions, was also linked to Manchester United in recent weeks.
According to The Athletic, Southampton made a significant offer to PSV in recent days for Gakpo.
However, the 23-year-old could be staying put in the Eredivisie for another season.
The offer was reportedly turned down, and there is no indication the Saints will come back with another offer.
The Dutch international has netted three goals and three assists in his past three matches in the league.
