PTAs in Sabah may apply for RM2,000 aid

SANDAKAN: Presidents of Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) in this state are invited to apply for Sabah PIBG Activity Assistance (BAGUS).

Minister of Special Duties, Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Arif said the aid, amounting to RM2,000, was distributed to the 1,500 schools involved in carrying out activities throughout the year.

“BAGUS is channelled to accommodate PIBG activities throughout the state and so far 1,500 PIBGs are involved including national schools, secondary schools, state religious schools, national secondary schools and religious secondary schools.

“Therefore, I invite all PIBG Chairpersons (YDPs) who have not received this assistance to apply either online or come to our office in Kota Kinabalu,” he said.

He added that the government also introduced a new initiative this year, Bantuan Ihsan Sekolah Sabah (BISBAH) in 1,500 schools throughout the state.

“BISBAH is computer equipment assistance and teaching assistance in secondary, national, religious secondary, indigenous and Chinese schools,” he explained during the Presentation of Educational Aid Initiative SMJ BISBAH and BAGUS at the Community Hall, yesterday.

Arifin, who is also Education Exco, said that under the Office of the Minister of Special Tasks there were more than 10 types of aid that had been approved and advocated by the Chief Minister in an effort to empower human capital which was one of the main focuses in the development plan, Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya.

At the event, Arifin presented assistance of RM8,000 BISBAH each to the Principal of SMK Merpati and Headmaster of SK Nunuyan Laut, followed by BAGUS RM2,000 to YDP PIBG SMK Perempuan for the Sibuga Constituency.

As for Sungai Manila constituency, aid totalling RM26,000 was handed over, RM8,000 each to the Principal of SMK Libaran, the Headmaster of SK Rancangan Lubuh and the Headmaster of SAN Pekan Muhibah for BISBAH and RM2,000 of BAGUS to YDP PIBG SK Sungai Manila.

Meanwhile, Gum Gum and Tanjong Papat constituencies received the same amount of RM34,000 assistance with a breakdown of RM32,000 BISBAH and RM2,000 BAGUS.

The number involved BISBAH recipients consisting of the Principal of SMK Gum Gum, Headmaster of SK Batu 16 Gum Gum, Headmaster of SAN Desa Permai, Ulu Dusun Sandakan, Headmaster of SAN Karamunting, Principal of SMK St Micheal (M), Headmaster of SK Tanjung Papat 1 , SAN Tanjung Papat Headmaster and SAN KM Headmaster 2 Jalan Bunga Botan (Elopura), while BISBAH recipients were YDP PIBG SK Seri Manis and YDP PIBG SK Sri Tanjong Papat 2.

In addition to the Special BISBAH presentation of RM10,000 to the District Education Office (PPD), Arifin also witnessed the presentation of assistance from the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) which was carried out by the Deputy President, Malai Ali Malai Ahmad amounting RM5,884,800 to the Chairman of the District Dakwah Agency, Farizal Setoh.

Malai also presented a religious activity donation of RM5,000 to the District Missionary Body, PPD and Sandakan District Police Headquarters (IPD).

There was also a presentation of donations for da’wah and religious activities by the Chairman of Sabah Baitulmal Corporation (PBNS), Datuk Dr Omar Raisul As Salam Syah amounting to RM2,000 each to Farizal, PPD Sandakan and IPD Sandakan.
