SANDAKAN: The public has been warned not to fall for viral links circulating on messaging apps and social media claiming to offer or process applications for the People's Housing Project (PPR).

Assistant Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Isnin Aliasnih said vigilance is vital to avoid becoming victims of online scams.

He advised the public to verify any PPR-related information directly with the ministry, local councils or district offices.

Isnin gave the reminder after officiating the 2025–2027 swearing-in and appointment ceremony for Beluran District Council members on Thursday.

Eighteen new councillors took their oaths at the ceremony, which was also attended by Assistant Rural Development Minister Datuk Samad Jambri and district officials, with both leaders urging the new members to prioritise community development and council performance.
