MANILA, Philippines — The Santiago City leg of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, has been cancelled due to the adverse effects of Tropical Depression Maymay (Kujira).
The doubleheader would have featured ZUS Coffee against PLDT Home Fiber in the opening match followed by the game between Capital1 and Creamline.
PVL president Ricky Palou expressed that safety of the players and fans is a priority for the league.
"We sincerely apologize to our fans in Santiago City and the rest of Isabela who were looking forward to the matches," said Palou.
"While we share everyone's disappointment, the safety of our fans, players, coaches, officials, and staff must always come first. We appreciate everyone's understanding and support during this time."
Palou also assured volleyball fans in the province that the league remains committed to bringing top-level PVL action to the city.
The league, however, did not announce when or where the cancelled matches will be played.
