MANILA, Philippines — Vanie Gandler finally seized the moment, earning her first-ever Most Valuable Player award in the Premier Volleyball League and delivering a powerful message about perseverance and belief.
The 25-year-old spiker powered the Cignal HD Spikers to a finals berth in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference 2026, amassing 209 total points from 182 attacks, 17 kill blocks, and 10 service aces. She also ranked among the league’s best in serving and receiving, highlighting her all-around brilliance.
“It’s very meaningful to me. I fought really hard to be where I am today. I fought through so many failures. I fought through so much doubt,” Gandler said. “But I’m really grateful for those who were with me.
“I want to show people that with hard work and dedication, you can reach your goals.”
Gandler delivered a standout triple-double performance of 26 points, 14 excellent digs, and 15 excellent receptions in Game 2 of the finals, despite a loss to the Creamline Cool Smashers.
While a championship remains her ultimate target, the rising star remains undeterred.
“You can get anywhere. It doesn’t matter what people say as long as you keep working and believe in yourself,” she added.
Since turning pro in 2023, Gandler has already collected three bronze and three silver medals, while also emerging as a key contributor for the Alas Pilipinas women’s national volleyball team.
Meanwhile, Philippine volleyball icon Alyssa Valdez praised Gandler’s growth, noting her relentless effort and bright future ahead.
“I know how hard Vanie worked and how much effort she put in to become who she is today, so I’m very proud of her,” Valdez said. “She’s almost there. The finals are a completely different playing ground.
“They’ve shown they deserve to be here. Just a little bit more and she can get that first championship—but if it’s against us, we won’t make it easy.”
