BEIJING - Rescue teams working in the flood-hit area along the China-Nepal border face further rainfall in the coming days, potentially complicating relief efforts, reported German Press Agency (dpa).
China's state broadcaster reported on Friday that frequent rain was expected over the next three days, including at Tingri airport, which has been used to transport rescue workers and relief supplies to the area.
The Tibet region regularly sees rainfall during the monsoon season, which runs until September, but heavier downpours could hamper rescue operations.
On the Chinese side of the border in south-western Tibet, crews have been working since Wednesday to clear the road to the Gyirong border crossing, which was blocked by the flash floods.
The crossing is one of the main routes for tourism and trade between the mountainous region and Nepal.
More than 1,400 people remain missing in Nepal and China, including many tourists. Authorities on both sides have so far reported a combined death toll of 392. - BERNAMA
