As a western disturbance is hitting the region on Thursday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rains at a few places in Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal and Panipat.

The few places correspond to 25-50 per cent of the station, according to the weather department’s terminology. In the remaining districts, rainfall is expected at isolated places (less than 25 per cent).

On May 29, rainfall is predicted in most places (75-100 per cent) in Ambala, Panchkula and Yamunanagar; a red alert is in effect in these districts. In Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Panipat and Sonepat, 50-75 per cent of the area will be covered. In the rest of the state, rainfall will occur at isolated places or in a few places.

On May 30, rainfall is expected across most places in Ambala, Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat and Sonepat. In Kaithal, Jind, Rohtak and Jhajjar, 50-75 per cent of the area will be covered.

In the rest, rain will occur at isolated places or a few places. There is an orange alert in all the districts except Sirsa and Fatehabad.

The rain will be accompanied by lightning and gusty winds from May 29 to May 30.

On May 31, rainfall is predicted at isolated places in five districts: Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Kurukshetra and Karnal.

On June 1, there will be dry weather across Haryana.
