The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange heat wave alert for 11 districts of Haryana for Monday. These districts are Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jhajjar, Nuh, Palwal, Rohtak, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri.

Besides, a yellow heat wave alert has also been sounded for nine districts — Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonepat, Panipat, and Jind.

During a yellow alert, residents are advised to stay updated, while under an orange alert, they are expected to be prepared.

Similarly, for May 26, there is an orange heat wave alert for 11 districts — Mahendragarh, Rewari, Jhajjar, Nuh, Palwal, Rohtak, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Bhiwani, and Charkhi Dadri. Besides, there is a yellow alert in nine districts — Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonepat, Panipat, and Jind.

For May 27, there is a yellow heat wave alert for Panchkula and Yamunanagar, while the remaining 20 districts have an orange heat wave alert.

According to the weather department, as a Western Disturbance approaches, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (reaching 40-50 kmph) are predicted over Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal and Kaithal.

According to Surender Paul, Director, IMD, Chandigarh, a further rise in maximum temperature is predicted across Haryana.

On Sunday, the state recorded an average rise of 1.7 degrees Celsius in maximum temperature, which remained 2.5 degrees above normal. Sirsa recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 46 degrees Celsius.
