
MANILA, Philippines — Reigning Asian Games champion Annie Ramirez will spearhead the 15-member Philippine jiu-jitsu squad that will compete at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
Ramirez will see action in the women’s 52-kilogram division alongside fellow Asiad bronze medalist Jenna Kaila Napolis.
Three-time world champion Kimberly Anne Custodio and Jollirine Co will banner the Philippines in the women’s 48-kg class, while Alexandria Luz Enriquez and Andrea Lois Lao will compete in the 63-kg division.
In the men’s competition, Myron Mangubat and Santino Luis Luzuriaga will vie in the 62-kg division, with Marc Alexander Lim and Yman Xavier Baluyo competing in the 69-kg class.
Antonio Luigi Dy and Mark Constance Vergel will see action in the 77-kg division, while Vito Luis Luzuriaga and David Lacson Miranda will compete in the 85-kg class. Romeo John Arellano rounds out the men’s squad in the 94-kg division.
The Philippine Olympic Committee unveiled the complete jiu-jitsu roster on Wednesday, following the announcement of the gymnastics team, which includes double Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo and his younger brother, Eldrew Yulo.
