Raping minor: Duo ordered to enter defence

Kota Kinabalu: A 31-year-old man and 18-year-old were ordered to enter their defence on a charge of raping an underaged girl.

Sessions Court Judge Elsie Primus made the order against Ramlan Jirirun and the teenager after ruling that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against them.

The court set June 18-19 for their defence.

The duo are accused of raping the 14-year-old girl between 3am and 3.30am on Jan 14, 2022 by the seaside in Kg Indarason Laut, Kudat.

Read more They were charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code which provides for a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.

The prosecution called six witnesses during the hearing.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Siti Hajar Mazlan conducted the prosecution while counsel Amirul Amin represented the duo.

The duo were ordered to be remanded further pending the disposal of their case.
