Man ordered to enter defence for raping step-daughter

Kota Kinabalu: A 58-year-old man was ordered to enter his defence on the charges of committing physical sexual harassment and raping his stepdaughter.

Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan made the order against the man after ruling that the prosecution had establish a prima facie case.

The court set June 12 for the man’s defence in which he informed the court that he is the only witness in the defence.

On the first count, the man is accused of raping the 14-year-old girl between June and December 2022 at a house in Manggatal.

On the second count, he allegedly committed sexual abuse against the same girl by fondling her breasts in June 2022 between 9.30pm and 10pm at the same place.

The prosecution had called six witnesses during the hearing.

The man is currently serving sentence after he admitted to raping his biological daughter.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Dacia Jane Romanus conducted the prosecution while the man was not represented.
