Sir Jim Ratcliffe will expect to have significant influence on decision-making when he completes his minority stake purchase in Manchester United.
That's according to CBS Sports' Ben Jacobs.
He reports: "Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to buy 25% of #MUFC for around $1.8bn. His club valuation is around $7.5bn. As previously reported, this is with a view to eventual control. INEOS always clear that's their aim.
"Sources indicate Ratcliffe's 25% stake is likely to be ratified in a board meeting next week after a significant breakthrough over the last two weeks. Nine Two Foundation aware of this and it in-part informed their withdrawal.
"Ratcliffe has been extremely hands on, and will also be with #MUFC. INEOS also looking at Paul Mitchell as a possible sporting director and expect significant say even as a minority investor.
"Sources close to INEOS insist this new approach was their only way to get a 'foot in the door' and meet the Glazers valuation. Ratcliffe has impressed those running the process with his engagement and flexibility to get a deal done."
