Sir Jim Ratcliffe has launched a new proposal for control of Manchester United.
Having had two offers turned down by the Glazer family, Ratcliffe is launching a revised bid which would keep the Americans involved.
The Times says Ratcliffe would seek a 50 per cent or more stake in the club, with Joel and Avram Glazer holding a minority 20 per cent.
Ratcliffe is making the proposal knowing the Glazer brothers are leaning towards keeping hold of a majority share while their four siblings cash out to a hedge fund.
INEOS chief Ratcliffe is competing with Sheikh Jassim and Thomas Zilliacus in the bidding process.
The new deadline for bids to be submitted is Friday, April 28.
