In conjunction with Eid al-Fitr 2026, my family is really fortunate to receive an entourage of visit from three generations of my wife, Zarina's late youngest brother, Allahyarham Haji Abdul Latif bin Haji Ishak, a former Director of Malaysian Helicopter who passed away on 2 August, 2022. Read Alfatihah. It involves a grandmother, Malaysian Lawyer Nurul Jannah binti Dato' Ibrahim, a long-time classmate at the Universiti Malaya to our former Chief Justice of Malaysia Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tun Mat (1st generation), her children and their spouses (2nd generation) & her grandchildren (third generation).

This event created meaningful opportunities for intergenerational storytelling about the family legacy. It serves as a crucial evidence to maintain family ties, pass down family history, and build strong relationships between granduncle & grandaunt with the grandnephews & grandnieces and their siblings. In the past years, we held this Eid gatherings at my wife, Zarina's hometown in Kuala Kangsar. But this year we decided to celebrate around the capital.

I am amazed this celebration brought together three generations in a show of unity and enduring family ties. I realize family values are the real foundation that holds everything together, whether spoken or unspoken, these values shape how family members interact, make decisions and approach challenges. This is especially crucial in their pursuit of education, professional employment and doing businesses, where shared principles & alignment are essential.

Since the demise of her best half in 2022, Lawyer Nurul Jannah is the glue leading the Latif Family by influencing family values guide decision-making and interactions, shaping both their personal lives and professional practices. She reaffirmed that “To preserve and pass down family values championed by Arwah Haji Latif, my children & their spouses are maintaining our family unity & aligning goals across the 3 generations which require proactive practice.”
