The Regional Plan 2041, which will guide urban growth across the NCR over the next two decades, is expected to be the focus of the NCR Planning Board meeting on Tuesday amid debate over the protection of Natural Conservation Zones and the need for mapping of sensitive areas.
The draft plan seeks to balance economic growth, regional connectivity and urban expansion while promoting sustainable development. However, environmental concerns, particularly the delineation of Natural Conservation Zones, including parts of the Aravali landscape, have emerged as a key point of discussion ahead of the meeting.
The debate assumes significance against the backdrop of rapid land-use change across the NCR over recent decades, with the urban built-up area expanding sharply as the region has witnessed sustained population and economic growth.
