Resettlement plan under way for 110 Sepanggar fire-hit families

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Government and the City Hall (DBKK) are preparing to resettle 110 households affected by the August 30 fire in Numbak, Sepanggar.

Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah said preparatory works, including site inspections and measurements, are under way to ensure an orderly rebuilding and resettlement process that prevents future disputes.

He said authorities are also vetting the list of victims to ensure only genuinely eligible residents are permitted to rebuild, following claims that outsiders had previously erected structures there without DBKK approval.

The victims from Kampung Lok Buta, Kampung Lok Poring, and Kampung Sabang Lama are currently housed at the Damai Multipurpose Hall or staying with relatives while awaiting arrangements.

Contributions from the State Government, Istana Seri Kinabalu, and a RM700 cash aid per household from the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) were handed over to the victims on Wednesday in an event attended by Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman.
