
Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced RM3,000 in financial assistance for each Malaysian household affected by the Kampung Numbak fire during a visit to the victims today.
He said the assistance comprises RM1,000 from the State Government through the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee, RM1,000 from the Federal Government and RM1,000 from Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah.
A total of 110 Malaysian households were affected by the fire, with 73 housed at the Dewan Damai temporary evacuation centre and another 37 at the Dewan Serbaguna Likas evacuation centre.
Hajiji also announced that each affected Malaysian household would receive RM20,000 worth of materials needed to rebuild homes destroyed in the fire, with the rebuilding process to be handled by the State Secretary together with Kota Kinabalu City Hall.
He said the State Government would also provide RM1,000 to each affected non-Malaysian household on humanitarian grounds, in addition to food and other necessities.
