On 13 June, Banks the pup wanted to give his owner a special “gift”.

Banks is a Golden Retriever puppy who loves exploring his surroundings.

Every new discovery is a chance to have some fun. His garden, in particular, is full of “treasures” that the pup would love to bring inside to explore further.

An “extraordinary” gift?

So, when his owner caught the puppy with a huge stick in his mouth, about to walk into the living room with it, she had to step in. It was an adorable sight, as the branch was almost as big as the little pup himself!

When his owner said, “No! You can't bring that inside!”, the pup took a step back. He didn't really understand his owner's logic, so he trotted back to the bottom of the garden with his precious stick.

Hearts are broken

On TikTok, viewers didn't quite agree with the owner's decision. In fact, they wished the puppy had been allowed to keep his precious stick, at least for a few minutes. Comments included: “He was bringing you a gift!” and “At least let him keep his stick until he falls asleep.” Some users even claimed they would let a whole tree inside if their dog asked with a face like that.

The fact that Banks wanted to offer this gift to his owner shows a behaviour inherited from his hunting ancestors, when dogs brought food and resources back to their pack. So, the next time your dog brings you this kind of unusual object, you'll know it's just their way of sharing their treasure!
