MEMBAKUT: The local community will be able to enjoy sports facilities soon as the State Government has approved the construction of the Membakut Mini Sports Complex costing RM13 million.
Membakut Assemblyman Datuk Dr Ariffin Arif said the budget for the infrastructure has been approved and will be included under the State Government’s Additional Allocation this June.
“After that, we will proceed with the necessary processes at the Ministry of Finance and identify a suitable site for the project. Currently we have two potential locations.
“The ground-breaking ceremony is expected to be held this year and officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor,” he said at the Semarak Ramadan Ceremony with Mualaf (Muslim Converts) at the Membakut State Assembly level, here, on Sunday.
Ariffin, who is also State Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, said over 700 mualaf and their families were celebrated at the ceremony, which is held annually during Ramadan.
He said of the number, 473 heads of households (KIRs) among the mualaf received cash assistance and essential groceries, while their children were given “duit raya”. “This is the 16th edition of the programme. In addition to financial aid, a religious talk (tazkirah) was also held to further strengthen their faith, proving that they are never neglected by the Government.
“We will also register their names so they can be referred to for future religious programmes or other forms of assistance,” he added, expressing his hope the programme would provide valuable knowledge to the mualaf involved.
