LAHAD DATU: Marine Police uncovered a crude palm oil (CPO) misappropriation syndicate after raiding a warehouse here on Friday.

Sabah Region Four Marine Police Commander ACP Mohd Nazri Ibrahim said the 4pm raid followed a tip-off and intelligence indicating the site was being used for storage and transfer of CPO.

A local man and two foreigners were detained during the operation on suspicion of involvement in the illegal activity.

Police seized two trailers, six trailer tanks and 33,040 litres of CPO worth about RM2.38 million, with the case being investigated under the Malaysian Palm Oil Board Regulations 2005.

Mohd Nazri said marine police remain committed to curbing smuggling and misuse of national resources while encouraging the public to report such offences.
