KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party vice president David Ong has urged the Prime Minister to allocate RM2 billion immediately for flood relief and rebuilding in Sabah, warning that federal neglect has left the state vulnerable.

“The recent floods and landslides have once again exposed the fragile state of Sabah’s infrastructure. Lives have been lost, homes destroyed, and families displaced.

"This is not charity—it is a rightful return for what Sabah has contributed. It is a matter of justice and survival,” he said.

Ong stressed that beyond immediate aid, a long-term flood mitigation plan is vital, alongside federal commitment to honouring the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
