
PENAMPANG: The innovation of community garden projects run by the villagers, can serve as a source of income for the local population, said Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Ewon, who is also Penampang Member of Parliament, expressed full support for the initiative carried out by the Kg Madsiang’s residents, who are involved in the roselle cultivation and innovation.

Ewon said this, when officiating the Madsiang Community Learning Centre and the closing of the Community Garden Project: Cultivation and Innovation of Roselle in Kg Madsiang, Saturday.
He hoped that the success of this project would inspire and motivate other communities to also engage in innovative agriculture to generate income.

He also appreciated the contribution of the All-Party Parliamentary Group Malaysia (APPGM) – SDG for selecting the village for the project’s implementation.

“As the MP for Penampang, I agree to provide an allocation of RM20,000 this year to support the efforts at the Madsiang Community Learning Centre,” he added.
Through the use of modern agricultural technology and sustainable approaches, the roselle cultivated by the villagers is able to produce various high-value products such as juice, tea and other health-related products.
